One Week Sri Lanka Tour

1

Negombo

At Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by a Zoom Lanka representative who will also be your driver and guide throughout the tour, and escorted to a luxury vehicle that will take you around the country. To begin your 7 day Sri Lanka tour, you will be picked up in the nearby city of Negombo and spend the first night in a hotel.

Sigiriya

On the way to Sigiriya, you will be taken to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to witness the various behaviors of Sri Lankan elephants and in the afternoon, you will reach the ‘Lion Rock’ in Sigiriya. You have to climb approximately 1200 steps to reach the top of the rock and you will be able to see some beautiful ancient frescoes and the ruins of a fort on the top of the rock.

Kandy

After breakfast, you will climb the steps (300-400) and visit the Dambulla Cave Temple and then drive to Kandy, visiting the Ayurvedic Herb Garden on the way and reach Kandy after a three and a half hour journey. In Kandy, visit the Dalada Palace and arrive at the hotel to spend Day 3 of your one-week Sri Lanka tour.

Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast proceed to Kandy Royal Botanic Gardens to observe a wide range of tula latha species including beautiful orchids. It takes three hours to reach Nuwara Eliya and on the way, you can also visit the beautiful Ramboda Waterfalls, a beautiful tea plantation and a tour of a tea factory. In Nuwara Eliya, spend the night in a hotel with breakfast.

Ella, Yala

By 9.30am on the fifth day, you should head to Nanuoya Railway Station – for Sri Lanka’s most scenic train journey from Nanuoye to Ella. It is advisable to make seat reservations for this train journey in advance to get comfortable seats in a good compartment. Your zoo driver will accompany you from Ella railway station to Yala (two and a half hours). You can use the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the luxurious surroundings of the hotel.

Galle

A jeep safari will arrive at your hotel to take you on a jungle tour of Yala National Park. You should be lucky enough to spot the rare leopard with wild animals. The forest tour should be done early in the morning (before the sun gets hot) and you can have breakfast during the tour (or you can also opt for a picnic before you leave for the safari). Next, on your way from the hotel to Galle, you can visit the Weligama fish market after a three and a half hour drive from Yala on the south coast of Sri Lanka and in Galle, visit Holland Fort and its surroundings. Your evenings can be spent gazing at the ocean from a luxurious hotel room.

Colombo and Arrival at airport

After breakfast, check out from the hotel to the bustling city of Colombo (about 2 hrs.) In Colombo, you can visit places like Gangarama Temple, Manning Market, Pettah and Fort area, Old Parliament Building, Galle Face Green, Independence Square, BMICH, Town Hall and Lotus Pond. The airport is another hour’s drive from Colombo.
